Peter Blum Gallery is pleased to announce the representation of New York-based artist Marina Adams (b. 1960). The announcement follows Adams’s recent solo exhibition with the gallery, titled Works on Paper: A Survey (April 9–May 29, 2026), and its accompanying hardcover publication. Her work is currently on view in the group exhibition Clever, Quick, Magnetic: The Art of Witty Banter, curated by David Salle at Oklahoma Contemporary. Looking ahead, Adams’s work will be featured in Peter Blum Gallery’s booth presentation at The Armory Show (September 24–27, 2026), as well as in the group exhibition Abstract Expressionism: The East End, 1940 to Today at the Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill, New York (September 27, 2026–February 14, 2027).

For more than three decades, Adams has developed a dynamic and powerful abstract language that explores the possibilities of form and movement through the structural force of color. Understanding abstraction not as theory but as a “synthesis of body and mind,” Adams embraces what John Keats termed “negative capability”—the ability to exist within uncertainties and mysteries without reaching after fact or reason. Drawing inspiration from the natural world, textiles, and the rhythmic cadences of poetry and music, Adams engages in an ongoing dialogue with Modernist artists—including Henri Matisse, Joan Mitchell, and Willem de Kooning—while maintaining a singular and distinctly contemporary voice.
For more than five decades, Peter Blum has worked with artists central to the development of modern, postwar, and contemporary art, with a particular emphasis on the continued exploration of abstraction. The gallery’s program has encompassed exhibitions and longstanding collaborations with influential artists and architects including Louise Bourgeois, Alex Katz, Agnes Martin, Herzog & de Meuron, Yayoi Kusama, and Robert Ryman, among many others. Today, the gallery continues to bridge past and present through its support of artists shaping the canon. Beyond the gallery walls, Peter Blum Edition, founded in 1980, extends this legacy through publishing print portfolios and limited-edition books in close collaboration with generations of leading international artists.
About the Artist
Marina Adams (b. 1960, Orange, New Jersey) is based in New York City; Bridgehampton, New York; and the hills outside Parma, Italy. She earned degrees from Tyler School of Art at Temple University, Philadelphia, and Columbia University, New York. Adams received a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship in 2016 and the Award of Merit Medal for Painting from the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 2018. Her work is held in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, Texas; Buffalo AKG Art Museum, New York; Longlati Foundation, Shanghai; UBS Art Collection, New York; Colby College Museum of Art, Waterville, Maine; K11 Art Foundation, Hong Kong; and The Rennie Collection, Vancouver, among others.

About Peter Blum Edition
Founded in New York in 1980, Peter Blum Edition was among the first print publishers to collaborate with a new generation of European and American artists. Its extensive publishing history includes editions by John Baldessari, Louise Bourgeois, Alex Katz, Barbara Kruger, Brice Marden, James Turrell, and Luc Tuymans, among many others. The Peter Blum Edition Archive (1980–1994) was acquired by the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and exhibited there accompanied by a major publication in 2006. Subsequently, the Aargauer Kunsthaus in Aarau, Switzerland, exhibited an extensive overview of the portfolios and editions in 2007.
