SUMMARY:Pierre Knop's "Le Sacre Du Printemps" at Yossi Milo
DESCRIPTION:Opening Reception: Thursday\, September 10\, 6-8 PM\nSeptember 3 – October 17\, 2026 \n“Yossi Milo is pleased to present Le Sacre Du Printemps\, an exhibition of new paintings by Pierre Knop (b. 1982\, Nancy\, France). For his third solo exhibition with the gallery\, Knop turns his attention entirely to landscapes\, deepening his engagement within a practice that has long moved between observation\, memory\, and invention. “My paintings don’t depict an external reality\, but rather an inner one\,” he explains. Drawing from photographs\, lived experience\, and art historical references\, Knop develops compositions through an ongoing dialogue between material\, gesture\, and perception\, allowing each painting to arrive at its own internal logic.” \nFor more\, visit https://yossimilo.com/

SUMMARY:Yvonne Jacquette's "From the Air" at KARMA
DESCRIPTION:Yvonne Jacquette\, From the Air\, at Karma\, 549 West 26th Street\, New York.\nSeptember 3–October 31\, 2026\nOpening reception Thursday\, September 10\, 6–8 pm \nFor over five decades\, Yvonne Jacquette (1934–2023) observed the world from above\, rendering clouds\, cities\, and cultivated fields as interlocking patterns of line and color. Karma’s first Jacquette solo exhibition\, From the Air\, brings together paintings and works on paper made between 1971 and 2019\, tracing how she developed the aerial perspective as both subject and method. Whether looking down on Manhattan or Maine\, Jacquette remained absorbed in the act of seeing\, treating distance as her way of relating to the world below. \nFor more\, visit karmakarma.org

SUMMARY:Amuse-Bouche at Hashimoto Contemporary
DESCRIPTION:Amuse-Bouche at Hashimoto Contemporary: 54 Ludlow St.\, New York\, NY 10002. Through September 5\, 2026\, Tuesday – Saturday\, 10 AM – 6 PM.  \nNEW YORK CITY—Hashimoto Contemporary is pleased to present amuse-bouche\, a group exhibition focused on the small scale. Returning for its second iteration\, the exhibition pays homage to our enduring fascination with the miniature. \nFeaturing over 60 works from 27 artists\, amuse-bouche celebrates the unpretentious simplicity of scale\, with all of the artworks measuring under 12 inches. Taking various styles and approaches\, these works foster an immediate sense of intimacy\, intrinsically drawing the viewer in closer. \nAudrey Bialke’s Many Quiet Mornings depicts a serene outdoor scene with subtle elements of folklore and intricately painted borders. Field Poppies\, a three dimensional landscape painting by Barry Hazard\, is endlessly charming at just 3 inches tall. \nArtist duo We Are Out Of Office’s Palermo focuses on vegetables being sold at a market stand\, showcasing the beauty in everyday moments. Catie Cook’s Persuasion offers a zoomed in look at a Dalmatian’s eye with meticulous care and detail. \nFor more\, visit hashimotocontemporary.com

SUMMARY:Blizzard at DIMIN Gallery
DESCRIPTION:Blizzard\, DIMIN Gallery\, 406 Broadway\, Fl. 2\, New York\, NY 10013. On view until August 29th\, 2026. Tuesday to Friday\, 10 am to 6 pm. \nBlizzard blends artists whose winter landscapes offer distance—a space to consider cold\, stillness\, and environmental change at a moment when these conditions feel furthest away. Instead of the nostalgia and tradition the season has come to represent\, this group exhibition reimagines winter as a space for reverie\, where beauty and instability collide. Across painting\, photography\, sculpture\, and video\, these artists treat snow\, ice\, and frozen landscapes not as backdrops\, but as sites of memory\, sublimity\, and protest. \nBlizzard will take place in DIMIN’s main gallery concurrently with The Swan’s Script III in the Living Room. DIMIN is located in Tribeca at 406 Broadway\, Fl. 2\, New York\, NY. \nFor more\, visit dimin.nyc

SUMMARY:Serpentine Sibyls: A Floating Sculptural Installation at Snug Harbor
DESCRIPTION:Serpentine Sibyls: A Floating Sculptural Installation at Snug Harbor by Daniel Rothbart\, curated by Melissa West at Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden\, 1000 Richmond Terrace\, Staten Island\, NY 10301.\nOn view through September 28\, 2026. Open daily\, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM. \nThe installation is located outdoors in the ponds adjacent to the Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art and is freely accessible during campus hours. \nThe installation takes its title from the Sibyls—female prophetesses and oracles consulted in times of crisis. In an era marked by floods\, heat waves\, and wildfires\, their presence resonates anew\, reflecting the growing precarity of human life amid climate change and environmental loss. Rothbart’s sculptures evoke aquatic organisms and botanical forms from a distant past\, conjuring life forms that feel at once primordial and speculative\, alien yet strangely familiar. Rooted in deep history while gesturing toward an uncertain future\, the works occupy a threshold between memory and prophecy. Situated within Snug Harbor’s historic landscape—a former refuge for sailors—the installation becomes a space for contemplation on where humanity has been and where it may be headed.  \nOnce set afloat\, Rothbart’s sculptures are animated by wind and water. Through a visual language of structure\, light\, buoyancy\, and motion\, they transform perceptions of the surrounding environment. \nFor more\, visit snug-harbor.org

SUMMARY:Ceija Stojka: Making Visible
DESCRIPTION:Ceija Stojka: Making Visible\nTHE DRAWING CENTER\n35 Wooster Street\nWed – Sun\, 12 pm – 6 pm \nCeija Stojka: Making Visible features the work of Roma artist\, activist\, writer\, lyricist\, and singer Ceija Stojka (1933-2013). Comprising more than sixty artworks\, as well as a selection of sketchbooks\, archival material\, and documentary films made during Stojka’s lifetime\, Making Visible explores the fullness of Stojka’s production as a visual artist\, centered in her Roma life and heritage. Spurred by the resurgence of extreme right nationalism in Austria and abroad\, and by her experiences as a Holocaust survivor\, Stojka created works of profound beauty and horror that resonate today in strikingly contemporary terms.

SUMMARY:Judy Chung: Cafeteria at RAINRAIN
DESCRIPTION:  \nJUDY CHUNG: CAFETERIA AT RAINRAIN\n110 Lafayette St\, New York\, NY 10013\, February 13 – March 14\, 2026\, Wed- Sat\, 11 am – 6 pm\n \nRAINRAIN presents Cafeteria\, Judy Chung’s first solo exhibition with the gallery\, featuring new paintings centered on the school cafeteria as a charged social microcosm. Exploring how identity is formed and negotiated in public\, Chung stages collisions between cute and grotesque\, sincerity and artifice. Drawing on anime\, Baroque drama\, and digital image culture\, her psychologically charged figures navigate judgment\, belonging\, and cultural displacement shaped by her transnational upbringing. Spaghetti recurs as an ambiguous symbol of comfort and abjection. Anchored by Symbiosis (Cafeteria) (2025)\, the exhibition also includes works such as Spaghetti Lariat and Communion\, where social ritual\, violence\, and performance converge.

SUMMARY:Gainsborough: The Fashion of Portraiture at The Frick Collection
DESCRIPTION:Gainsborough: The Fashion of Portraiture at The Frick Collection\n1 East 70th Street\, New York\, NY 10021\nFeb 12 – May 25\, 1026. \nGainsborough: The Fashion of Portraiture examines the dynamic relationship between Thomas Gainsborough’s portraits and the culture of fashion in eighteenth-century Britain. The exhibition explores how style shaped not only the sitters’ attire but also the scale\, composition\, and facture of painted portraiture. Bringing together more than two dozen works from North America and the United Kingdom\, the show spans Gainsborough’s four-decade career and marks the museum’s first special exhibition devoted to the artist—and the first focused on his portraiture in New York. Technical studies conducted with major conservation partners further illuminate his materials and process\, linking his practice to the textiles\, pigments\, and luxury goods that defined the era. \nHours of Operation: Wed – Thu 11 am to 6 pm\, Fri 11 am to 9 pm\, Sat – Sun 11 am to 6 pm

SUMMARY:Qiu Xiaofei: The Theater of Wither and Thrive at Hauser & Wirth
DESCRIPTION:  \nQiu Xiaofei: The Theater of Wither and Thrive at Hauser & Wirth \n542 W 22nd St\, New York\, NY 10011\nFebruary 12 – April 18\, 2026. Tue – Sat\, 10 am to 6 pm \nQiu Xiaofei presents new oil paintings and works on paper inspired by previously unknown family photographs discovered after his father’s passing. From this intimate source\, the exhibition expands into a meditation on memory\, loss\, and the world’s unstable transformations. Informed by Chinese philosophical traditions and Western poets such as Robert Lowell and Emily Dickinson\, Qiu creates vivid\, dreamlike scenes in which presence and absence unfold across psychological landscapes. Rooted in family history and his hometown of Harbin\, his paintings merge abandoned architecture\, nature\, and imagination. Recurring spiral motifs evoke non-linear time\, while layered imagery bridges personal remembrance with broader historical and emotional experience.
